Find your common ground across the world.
Common Ground pairs high schoolers with an international exchange partner for twelve weeks of real conversations, shared projects, and cultural discovery — all from your screen.
Twelve weeks. One exchange partner. A wider world.
Common Ground is a digital global exchange program that connects high schoolers from around the world through conversations and cultural exploration through activities. Over the course of twelve weeks, participants are paired with an international exchange partner and engage in discussions and collaborate on projects meant to deepen their understanding of the world.
Throughout the program, students will explore themes of identity, family, language, culture, and current events through meetings and exercises with their partner and broader cohort. By sharing each other's perspectives and experiences, participants will strengthen their communication skills while gaining a firsthand look at cultures and communities around the world that is only possible in this digital age.
At Common Ground, our mission is to bring students from around the world together through meaningful conversations and collaborative learning. We value respect and inclusivity, creating a space where people from diverse backgrounds can unite to learn and grow. Through language exploration and interactive projects, we empower participants to explore new perspectives, build lasting friendships, and become thoughtful global citizens.
12 Weekly Themes
Exchange partners will move from introductions to a deeper cultural exchange that will unfold over a series of 12 weekly themes. Each week will center on a different facet of life, identity, and culture in students' respective countries and involve digital presentations, conversations, and interactive activities to build meaningful connections.
Students will meet twice weekly, once with their entire cohort and once with only their exchange partner, to balance a broader global education with a more intimate exchange focused on a specific country and culture.

About the Team

Hi! I’m Meher, a high school junior from New Jersey interested in economics and learning about new cultures. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, listening to music, and trying new food. I love exploring new places and meeting people with different experiences and interests.
I founded Common Ground in 2026 after seeing how technology could make it easier for students to connect around the world. I wanted to create an opportunity for students to learn and experience other cultures in a more personal way by having real conversations with someone their age.
Having traveled to over 20 countries, I have realized that while cultures and lifestyles can be completely different, people often have much more in common than we can expect. Some of my favorite experiences have come from talking to locals and learning about their lives. Those experiences have inspired me to create similar opportunities for other students in a digital way, allowing for more accessibility and removing some of the barriers that can make international cultural experiences difficult to access.
